This project is a personal environment study created in Unreal Engine 5. After a long gap, I recently resumed working on personal projects to strengthen my real-time environment skills and update my workflow.
The goal was to create a calm, atmospheric forest temple scene while focusing on efficient asset creation and real-time lighting. This is also my first time lighting a full environment in Unreal Engine, where I explored HDRI lighting, fog, exposure control, and post-processing to achieve a natural mood.
The environment is built using a modular workflow with a trim sheet-based texturing approach to maintain consistency and optimization. Special attention was given to material variation, surface aging, and subtle moss and dirt buildup to enhance realism.
Software Used:
Maya | Substance Painter | Unreal Engine 5
Workflow Highlights:
• Modular environment design
• Trim sheet texturing workflow
• Real-time lighting and fog in UE5
• HDRI + Directional Light setup
• Post-process adjustments for mood and atmosphere
This project took around 10 hours, and I plan to keep improving and expanding my personal environment work regularly.
Feedback is always welcome!
